I was looking for to buy USHA FARRATA pedestal fan. But I found that they might have discontinued the product/ the item was not available in markets (online/offline). I found this "Havells Windstorm 500" to have similar spec. & ordered it.
1. Delivery: I ordered this product on 02.04.18, I received it on 17.04.18. It took FIFTEEN days to deliver the product. I was told that there was some problem with the transporter.
2. Unpacking: The dismantled product came in compact packaged with simple DIY instruction sheet. The base & column seems rock solid.
3. This is a basic level fan with no gizmos, tilting, swivelling functions. Only height adjustment is available. The fan blade is metallic & the motor looked sturdy. However the cage looked too weak and it has a tendency of shaking when the fan is being shifted from one place to another. So I would say it would be dangerous even to shift fan during running.
4. Problems Observed in Day-1:
4.1. The fan makes noise. The noise is like running a 2hp water pump running in the backyard. Continuous and Irritating.
4.2. The motor does HEAT UP. I knew it because it left a residual smell after a 3 hour continuous run. It took at least 15-20 min to cool itself off in ambient room temperature. I don't know, whether it is safe to run the fan for continuous hours.
For the shaky build quality, and the two problems observed on first day of use, I would deduct one star for each and will give TWO STARS.
